Clematis 'Warszawska Nike'
This hasn't really had a fair chance because it is planted below the Rosa Graham Thomas and near the Clematis macropetala but it is lovely, with white stamens.
Clematis viticella 'Madame J Correvon'
This is a fabulous viticella and very floriferous. I have it growing up the Cytitus batandieri and it flowers profusely from July to November. I only prune it to below the tree boughs though it is supposed to be hard pruned. By Jan it is already showing new strong buds so I prune it the strongest at the height I want it to start flowering from.
Clematis 'Daniel Deronda'
I love this Clematis. It has huge purple petals with very pale yellow, prominent stamens. I planted it up the Wisteria alba and it flowers at the same time, so sometimes you have to hunt to see its marvels amongst the tresses of cascading white. It responds best to only very light pruning. It's a relatively slow grower but each flower is worth every year you wait for it.
Clematis 'Princess Diana'
I think I need to give her more love (or light?). She has been a bit scarce on the flowering front for the last few years but is still there. I fed her better in 2013 and she is much happier.
Clematis 'Henryi'
Huge, white flowers with purple stamens. It's not in the best position because it flowers in the Clematis montana at about the same time but is very impressive and much loved.
Clematis 'Carnaby'
Striped pinky purple with white edges, best in shade to keep its colours. I think I have over-pruned this so need to give it more of a chance before I have a verdict. The label and online instructions vary. Apparently it is Group 2 but only needs a light prune after flowering and flowers on old season's growth. Some say it is a short variety for pots with normal Group 2 pruning, the label says June to August, 2.5 metres with restricted pruning. These two things don't make Clematis sense, so it is a little confusing. Apologies for the somewhat raggedy picture. The first flush is just going over.
Clematis 'Dawn'
This was billed as the 'new' version of C. Miss Bateman and, in the new tradition, is also supposed to do lots more flowering ie May/June plus September like a Group 2 but really only does it once (like Miss Bateman) and is a bit too wishy-washy in colour for my taste - almost pure white with dark stamens like C. Henryii but shorter and smaller and without the lovely pale green stripe in the petal of C. Miss Bateman. A bit disappointing really.
Clematis 'Ooh La La'
Up wigwam. This is supposedly the new, improved version of Clematis 'Nelly Moser' except that it should flower from spring to late summer in sun or semishade but it doesn't on my wigwam. When it does briefly in Spring it is quite spectacular but gaudier and smaller than Nelly. Somewhat disappointing so far.
Clematis 'Beauty of Worcester'
I am too much of a sucker for names! I come from Worcestershire so this was a "must" purchase at the time. It has been very reluctant to flower but had a few doubles and this is a September single on the repeat - but the only one so far.
Clematis viticella 'Venosa Violacea'
Up wigwam. This is a large flowered viticella for any aspect but the colour was disappointing, much less purple than promised.
